Lisa Brenner, awarded grant for the first federally funded study on probiotics for mental health

Congratulations to Lisa Brenner, PhD, for a newly awarded a $1.9M R01 grant from the National Institute of Health for the first federally funded study on probiotics for mental health, entitled Biological Signature and Safety of an Immunomodulatory Probiotic Intervention of Veterans with PTSD. Dr. Brenner’s grant will aim to demonstrate the effects of LGG in a cohort of OEF/OIF Veterans with PTSD, on biological signatures associated with this condition including the gut microbial community, intestinal permeability (IP), and systemic inflammation, as well as stress responsibility decision making, and PTSD symptom severity.
