We train over 250 fellows in over 60 subspecialties, 33 of which are ACGME-accredited programs. The University of Colorado’s School of Medicine recently launched the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics education program.
This program was developed with the plan to provide innovative educational opportunities ranging from rural or urban primary care, hospitalist training, or future subspecialty career paths.
With both Children’s Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado Hospital located adjacent to each other on the Anschutz Medical Campus, trainees will have ample opportunity to attend conferences at both institutions regardless of their specific hospital assignment.
The goal is to provide trainees with outstanding training in both internal medicine and pediatrics with the freedom in their last two years to mold their training to meet their long-term career goals. The internal medicine program has pioneered education in the hospitalist track, along with well-established primary care and rural experiences. The Department of Pediatrics has been at the national forefront in shaping career focused individualized training for residents with a focus in hospital medicine, primary care (rural or urban) and subspecialty care.
Both the internal medicine and pediatrics departments have many subspecialties ranking amongst best in the nation. The departments also have combined Med/Peds trained faculty in multiple medical and pediatric subspecialties dedicated to providing mentorship for those choosing to continue training in any of the many subspecialties.
The program would be the perfect fit for future leaders in the field who are interested in helping to shape a new program throughout their training and future careers.
