The department trains approximately 100 pediatric resident physicians, in addition to medical students and physician assistants.Fellowship Programs
We train over 250 fellows in over 60 subspecialties, 33 of which are ACGME-accredited programs.The Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research recently compiled the annual funding data from the National Institutes for Health (NIH).
The Department of Pediatrics ranked No. 1 among medical school departments of pediatrics in total NIH funding for 2013, with $43.2 million. Case Western Reserve University ($30.4 million) Vanderbilt University ($28.5 million) rounded out the top three.
Ronald J. Sokol, MD, professor of pediatrics and director of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI), ranked No. 1 as the principal investigator with most funding assigned to a department of pediatrics ($15.5 million).
