Med-Peds Consult Service

We are excited to announce our recent launch of our Med-Peds Consult Service starting! The overarching goal of the service is to improve the care of the adolescent and young adult population hospitalized at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) and Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO).

Our Med-Peds consult service kicked off at the beginning of 2023 and is staffed by Med-Peds-trained physicians. These providers have completed a residency training program that combines internal medicine and pediatrics, and so are ideally equipped to care for the adolescent and complex young adult population. Our goal through this service is to care for patients that are under the age of 18 and complex young adult patients with chronic conditions of childhood that are admitted to UCH frequently.

What We Offer:

• Consultation on adolescent and complex young adult patients with chronic conditions of childhood Monday-Friday from 7am-5pm
• Age and disease-specific recommendations to primary teams and nursing staff
• Communication with outpatient providers and relevant consulting services at CHCO
• Assistance with medication reconciliation and review of current medication dosing
• Patient and family support, particularly for patients who have recently transitioned from CHCO to UCH
• Facilitation of transitions of care
