What is Living Organ Donation?

Living Organ Donation is when a healthy person donates a piece of their liver or their kidney to someone in need. Typically Living Donors are people who are close to the recipient, be it family or friends. However, at CU, we have an incredible non-directed living donation program where people altruistically donate their kidneys or part of their liver to people they don't even know!

Living Kidney Donors live long, healthy lives with just one kidney, and the same can be said about living liver donors. The liver regenerates to its full size a couple of weeks after the surgery.

If you are interested in becoming a living donor, please visit our Hospital website at https://www.uchealthlivingdonor.org/.
