Assistant Professor
  • Physical Therapy (SOM)
  • Core Faculty

Dr. Hinrichs-Kinney earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Northwestern University in 2008 and completed her residency training in orthopedics at Temple University in 2013. With extensive clinical experience primarily in outpatient settings, she has worked with patients managing various orthopedic health conditions.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Hinrichs-Kinney has served as a Senior Clinical Instructor at the University of Colorado's Physical Therapy Program. She has taught courses covering musculoskeletal rehabilitation, foundational principles, and professional development. In 2023, she obtained her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Colorado.

Currently, Dr. Hinrichs-Kinney serves as an Advanced Research Fellow at the Eastern Colorado VA Healthcare System Geriatrics, Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC). Her research focuses on implementing evidence-based interventions into clinical practice through innovative implementation strategies and understanding contextual factors. Her research agenda integrates her interests in education, workforce development, and implementation science to bridge the gap between research and practice in rehabilitation.

In her role as a faculty member in the Physical Therapy program, Dr. Hinrichs-Kinney will contribute to teaching the musculoskeletal rehabilitation curriculum, foundational courses, and applied exercise science. She aims to integrate an exercise and movement prescription curriculum throughout the program, from foundational to clinical courses, culminating in the applied exercise science course. Additionally, she will collaborate with other University of Colorado research faculty to advance her research agenda and provide expertise in qualitative and mixed-methods research.
