The overall goal of this research is to use advanced high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging, in the context of spinal cord injury, in order to improve the understanding of responsiveness to spinal cord stimulation.
Our group, the Spinal Cord Injury Imaging Research Lab, has published several studies supported by the Boettcher Foundation Webb-Waring Biomedical Research Award, including investigations involving animal models. The severity of the lesion and any emergence of spared neural tissue likely play key roles in recovery following spinal cord injury.
