Alexandra has a BA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder and a MS in Epidemiology from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Ms. Smith has worked at the VA Rocky Mountain Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center (MIRECC) as a data analyst since 2018 and has been in her role with the University of Colorado Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department since 2023. She has experience working with large administrative healthcare datasets, survey research data, and datasets from other government agencies such as National Death Index and Department of Defense. She is skilled in several software and coding languages including t-SQL, SAS, and REDCap, and is continuing to seek knowledge in using R and Python. Ms. Smith’s research largely focuses on mental health and suicide prevention in Veteran populations.
