The Section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine has hired several new faculty between October 1, 2019 and September 30, 2020. Please welcome these faculty to our team!
Each year the Children's Hospital Colorado Annual Meeting of the Medical Staff recognizes members of the hospital's Medical Staff for their contributions through peer nominations. This year they gave out six awards--three of these went to members of our section: Sarah Schmidt, Denise Abdoo, and Halden Scott.
Drs. Joe Grubenhoff and Lalit Bajaj and University of Colorado coauthors won a Best of the Best award for their presentation “Developing a Data Stream to Detect Diagnostic Errors in the Pediatric ED” at the Diagnostic Error in Medicine Conference.
The Section's Virtual Care Program Pilot was successfully launched this month. Key contributors include Kevin Carney, Ben Elkon, Sarah Schmidt, David Listman, Cortney Braund, Derrek Massanari.
Dr. Denise Abdoo, PhD, CPNP, MSN won an Outstanding Service Award for her work building the only pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program in the state and for her national leadership in the risks of human trafficking.
Kim Gillock will be stepping down as our Courage Classic Team Captain. Kim founded our ED/NOC Courage Classic Team--Level One Cycling--and has served as captain for over 7 years. We are grateful to Kim for her service and acknowledge this major contribution to our Section.
The Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) Sepsis Program won a CHCO Excellence in Quality and Patient Safety Award. Through education, research, and clinical dissemination the Sepsis Program has improved the quality of care and safety for children with sepsis in our healthcare system.
Several Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty will be speaking this year at the Children’s Hospital Colorado Virtual Emergency & Trauma Outreach Symposium (ETOS) on December 2, 2020, including Maria Mandt, David Listman, and Tim Givens.
