BMAC (bone marrow aspirate concentrate) and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) are both examples of regenerative medicine — the idea that your body has the ability to heal itself.

By concentrating healing cells, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory proteins taken from your own body and injecting them at the site of injury, it is possible to support healing across a variety of injuries and conditions.

BMAC

Bone marrow aspirate concentrate

Bone marrow is aspirated from your iliac crest (by your hip) with a small needle, then spun down to concentrate the proteins and healing factors. The iliac crest has the highest concentration of stem cells in your body.

PRP

Platelet-rich plasma

PRP is obtained from a simple blood draw, which is then spun down to concentrate the growth factors and anti-inflammatory proteins found in your plasma.

Often recommended for persistent tendon pain such as Achilles tendinitis or plantar fasciitis
What to Expect

How the treatment works

1. Collection

A small volume of bone marrow is aspirated from the hip, or blood is collected with a standard draw, depending on the treatment planned.

2. Concentration

The sample is spun in a centrifuge to concentrate stem cells, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory proteins.

3. Injection

The concentrate is injected at the site of injury, most often at the time of surgery, to support healing of the treated tissue.
