Dean's Weekly Message

Dear Colleague:
Next week is
National APP Week and we join with medical schools and health care systems across the country in celebrating the advanced practice professionals who are making substantial contributions to the health of our communities and to the success of our school. Our colleagues elevate the quality of care and are vital contributors to our teams.
The Office of Advanced Practice at UCHealth and our School of Medicine are partners in presenting a program of events on our campus during the week of September 23.
Monday, September 23
National APP Kick-Off Watch Party, Nighthorse Campbell Native Health Building, 9:45 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, September 24
Office of Advanced Practice Pre-Conference Workshops, Anschutz Health Sciences Building, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Thursday, September 26
Office of Advanced Practice Annual Conference, Bruce Schroffel Conference Center, University of Colorado Hospital, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Many thanks to
Tatiana Emanuel, PA-C, associate professor of emergency medicine and director of the Office of Advanced Practice, for her leadership in organizing these activities through her service on the events committee of National APP Week.
Let’s celebrate our colleagues who are physician assistants, nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and certified anesthesiologist assistants. All our APPs keep our campus healthy, smart, and strong.
Faculty UpdatesPrem Subramanian, MD, PhD, professor of ophthalmology, in collaboration with CU Boulder aerospace engineering assistant professor
Allie Hayman, PhD, sent specialized optical equipment to gather data from astronauts’ eyes on the SpaceX

The study reviews the largest cohort to date of infant, pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients with ALL enrolled on more contemporary trials by the Children’s Oncology Group. An
article in the CU Cancer Center newsroom last week covers Lia’s work, including a
commentary in Cell she co-authored with
Maureen M. O’Brien, MD, professor of pediatrics, earlier this year that charts 50 years of progress toward curing childhood cancer.
Judy Regensteiner, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Medicine and director of the Ludeman Center for Women’s Health Research, was a co-chair of a
