Genomic DNA biospecimens are available to requestors. Primary specimens, such as saliva and blood, cannot be requested at this time.

Eligible studies include those seeking to recruit CCPM biobank research study participants with genotype data available or based on specific genetic profiles.

Investigators are encouraged to review and use the ABC Readiness Checklist and Core Review Criteria to guide self-assessment of readiness for ABC proposal submission.

To make your submission process smoother, review the ABC Readiness Checklist and Core Review Criteria first, this helps ensure you have everything needed before you continue.

Then:

Complete all required fields in the ABC proposal request form so you can save your request.

Save your request as “Missing Information.”

After saving, you’ll receive an email with a link to access your Draft within approximately 1 business day.

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your proposal. Expect to hear back within approximately 5 business days.

To view the status of your proposal, please visit the Investigator Dashboard here. If you have previously submitted a request to ABC, you can access the Investigator Dashboard right after proposal submission. For first-time submissions, access will be granted within one business day.

If the requested CCPM biobank resources need to be paired or linked with line-level patient medical data derived from EHR, you should submit a request to Health Data Compass (HDC) to schedule a consultation before completing the ABC form submission. ABC partners with HDC to review and approve these types of requests.

COMIRB approval is required if you are requesting PHI including line-level data, genomic DNA biospecimens and CCPM biobank research study participant recontact. Otherwise, you do not need COMIRB approval.

Approval to access biobank resources is granted only after detailed data and biospecimen contracts are signed and necessary IRB approvals are in place for all research requests. Contracts and IRB approval will vary based on the CCPM biobank resource being requested. An umbrella protocol is a type of master protocol designed to evaluate multiple related studies or sub-studies under a common research purpose, hypothesis or data set. It simplifies the submission process for Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) by allowing researchers to cover multiple projects with a single application. For example: An umbrella protocol could be used for a series of genetic studies aimed at understanding the genetic basis of various hereditary diseases. Each sub-study might focus on a different disease but all share the common goal of identifying genetic markers and potential treatments.
