A biobank collects, stores, and manages biological samples for research. Biobanks combine information from these samples with patient health records to give researchers a full database of information.
Biobanks play a very important role in moving medical research forward. With help from biobanks, researchers are able to carry out large-scale studies that lead to meaningful results.
Biobanks are also able to help ensure equity in research by gathering and recording a wide range of genetic, demographic and lifestyle data. This can help make health care more inclusive and benefits people in every community.
The CCPM biobank exists because of our participants. Since our founding in 2015, our participant base has steadily grown. We are proud of the community we have built.
Data as of 2/9/2026
The biobank helps researchers on the CU Anschutz campus find genetic data to support their studies. Our participant data has supported a wide variety of research studies including those focused on:
It’s easy to join, and no extra appointments are needed.
The CCPM biobank research study is governed by the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB). COMIRB is an administrative body that protects the rights and well-being of human research subjects.
CCPM is partnering with Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC), a part of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, to create a large-scale genomics database. The database will have genetic and clinical information without any personal information from biobank participants. The information will be used to support the research and discovery of genetic factors that could inform clinical care.
