Living Lab

The Living Lab, introduced by the MCoA to two different Colorado retirement communities, is a collaborative environment where retirement community residents, staff, Anschutz researchers and partners come together to test and develop new healthcare services, technology and care practices. In essence, a Living Lab brings the research to the community, eliminating the need for participants to travel to participate in research studies.

How Does a Living Lab Work?

Residents of their respective communities form an Academic Resident Advisory Council, which serves as a liaison between the community and CU Anschutz researchers, helping vet research projects that are beneficial and relevant to residents. Researchers can then bring their approved research projects to the community, and have residents that wish to participate in research take part in their study or objective.
