Attend a Research Roadshow

A Research Roadshow brings researchers and research opportunities to communities across Colorado. We prioritize engaging groups that are not included in health research as often, like older adults. Each Research Roadshow focuses on research that is improving how we age, such as:

• Healthy brain aging (including topics such as sleep and hearing health)
• Mobility (moving safety and being able to do what matters most)
• Cancer prevention and early detection
• New technology and devices to support aging in place
• Diabetes care and management
• Other topics of particular interest to your community.

Research Roadshows offer a variety of activities, such as education, live demonstrations, fun opportunities to try out new innovations, explore studies on health topics of interest, and meet leading health researchers.

For example, teams may offer free hearing tests. They can also share about their studies, which are focused on improving access to affordable hearing aids and exploring the possible connection between high blood pressure and hearing loss.

Other examples are the health and wellness teams bringing studies comparing guided nutrition plans and exercise programs with training help; or the osteoarthritis group studying ways to treat and hopefully develop a cure for arthritis. Community members will meet Older Adult Research Specialists whose mission is to connect peers with research to improve healthy aging, and help them learn about and sign up for research studies of interest.

The CU Anschutz Multidisciplinary Center on Aging  and CU Anschutz Cancer Center hosts the Research Roadshow, while graduates of the Center's Older Adult Research Specialist program help put the event together, and serve as liaisons with the attendees and the community. 

The researchers and research teams at Research Roadshows are typically faculty members from various factions at CU Anschutz, including the Center for Inclusive Design, Cancer Center, Department of Emergency Medicine, and Division of Neurology.
