Below are lists of resources in the Denver metro community for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias. Please know the resources below are not for immediate emergency assistance. We hope these resources will provide a good start for someone looking for assistance in the community.

Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Resources

The University of Colorado (CU) Alzheimer's and Cognition Center is located at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus and is part of the School of Medicine, Department of Neurology. Our center offers clinical care, clinical research, and translational research, as well as educational materials and support groups through collaboration with local community organizations. 

Part of the University of Colorado Alzheimer's and Cognition Center is the Memory Disorders Clinic.  If you or a loved one is having concerns with dementia or other memory problems and are interested in seeing one of our neurologists, please contact our clinic at (720) 848-2080. 

The Memory Disorders Clinic accepts all insurances accepted by the University of Colorado, which includes Medicare and Medicaid. For more information, please visit UCHealth Billing and Pricing. 


Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter

The Alzheimer's Association of Colorado provides information and support for people in Colorado living with dementia, as well as for families and caregivers.

For immediate service, call their free 24/7 Helpline at (800) 272-3900

The Alzheimer's Association website can help you find community resources, help you find caregiver in-home care, provide suggested activities, find local support groups and events, and provide general support for both caregivers and people living with Dementia. 


Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (aFTD) logo

The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (aFTD) provides information and support for people with FTD and their families and caregivers.

The aFTD has many resources available, and can help you find out more about FTD, provides resources for coordinating care, and hosts local support groups. 


Lewy Body Dementia Association

The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) provides information and support specific to people with Lewy Body Dementia, their families and caregivers,

The LBDA also has many other resources, such as the 10 things you should know about Lewy Body, opportunities for research, and local support groups. 


PCA CO

The Colorado Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) Support Group provides information and support specific to people with PCA in Colorado. This support group is run by Dr. Victoria Pelak, a neurologist who works with the CU Alzheimer's and Cognition Center. 

They provide resources such as information about PCA, support group meetings and lectures, and information about clinical trials and research.

Emergency Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid)

This is a program for undocumented individuals and some non-citizens.

The Colorado Respite Coalition offers respite vouchers to family caregivers and providers. Their mission is "to strengthen Colorado’s statewide lifespan respite care resource network for family caregivers and professionals." According to their website, some of the things they do are:

  • Provide information, resources and referrals to family and professional caregivers, including tools to navigate respite funding sources and how to find care
  • Distribute respite vouchers to caregivers with limited access to respite
  • Administer grants to agencies to increase access to respite care services statewide
  • Collaborate with organizations providing training on respite and caregiver supports
  • Facilitate training and educational opportunities for respite providers, caregivers, and employers across Colorado

DRCOG provides Options Counseling. This is a resource where an individual can talk with trained professionals in the field of aging and disability, who can help you to create a plan for care and support. They are very knowledgeable about the Medicare and Medicaid process, and can help those that are undocumented better understand the process, application, and coverage.

The Tri-County Health department serves Douglas County, Jefferson County, and Arapahoe County as an immigrant and refugee health resource.

For new I-693 requests for refugees, please contact Ardas Family Medicine at www.ardasclinic.com or visit the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website at www.uscis.gov

This organization will provide help with Medical Assistance Applications. For help with these applications, call the Health First Colorado Member Contact Center at 1 (800) 536-5298. 

They will also provide help with requests for food or cash assistance. Please call 1 (800) 536-5298.

Clinica Family Health is a community health center that provides health care to individuals and families at affordable prices. This clinic has multiple locations in Adams County and Boulder County. They offer services in both English and Spanish.

DAWN Clinic is a student-run free clinic in Aurora Colorado designed to serve uninsured patients from the community. While there are certain eligiblity requirements to be seen at the free clinic, they are also able to help with health education, navigating the healthcare system, and connecting to local organizations that aid with insurance enrollment. The clinic is accessible via the 10 and 15 bus routes, and they provide on-site Spanish interpreters, as well as language phones for almost any other language needed.

The clinic is open to uninsured adult patients living in Original Aurora on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

Denver Health has many clinics that are located all throughout the Denver-metro area and provide services regardless of ability to pay. They have many family health clinic options, as well as specialty clinics such as a women's clinic, pediatrics clinic, cardiology, neurology, and many others. A list of Denver Health Clinics and their locations can be found here. 

 

Salud Family Health Centers provides health care services focused on low-income, medically underserved, and migrant populations. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, CHP+, and most private insurance plans, as well as offer a sliding scale based on family size and income. 

They have 13 clinics in northeastern Colorado, including Aurora, Commerce City, and Fort Morgan, one clinic in southeastern Colorado, and a mobile unit to reach the migratory and seasonal agricultural worker populations in North Central and Northeastern Colorado.

STRIDE Community Health Center used to be known as Metro Community Provider Network, or MCPN). 

STRIDE Community Health Center's mission is to partner with the community to provide excellent, culturally-sensitive health services to meet the needs of each individual. They address the need for affordable and accessible care among low-income uninsured, and underserved populations. 

The STRIDE service area currently includes Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas, Jefferson, and Park counties and the Cities of Aurora, Arvada, Englewood, Lakewood, Parker, and Wheat Ridge.

Tepeyac is community health center that provides high-quality affordable primary and preventative care to Denver's Latino community. Their clinic is located at:

Nursing Homes Abuse is a non-profit whose mission is to be a complete resource center on abuse in nursing homes and to offer any help possible to those who need it.
