Eligibility Criteria for Conversational Speech Analysis (CSA) Research Study


 

Please note that additional things may come up during the course of screening that impact enrollment eligibility, which is ultimately up to the discretion of the study team.

Inclusion Criteria

You may be eligible for this study if you:

  • are 40-95 years old
  • are within range on cognitive screening exams
  • are primarily English speaking, without a distinctive international or regional dialect (based on clinician’s ear)
Have a reliable study partner who consents to be recorded and to fill out standardized questionnaires for research annually. Study partner must be 18 or older, primarily English speaking (without distinctive international or regional dialect), and have known you for at least 1 year.

Exclusion Criteria

You may not be eligible for this study if you have:

The presence of a concomitant medical neurological or psychiatric illness or condition that in the opinion of the investigators would confound interpretation of study results or prevent the participant from participating or cooperating in the protocol.  These include:

  • major psychiatric disorder (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression within past two years)
  • neurological or autoimmune conditions affecting cognition (e.g., Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, head trauma with loss of consciousness > than 30 min)
  • systemic medical illnesses (e.g., cancer, renal failure)
  • current depression
  • DSM-V criteria for substance abuse or dependence
  • current medication use likely to affect Central Nervous System functions
