 Basic Clinical Lecture Series

The Basic Clinical Lecture Series runs from July - August. 

  • Review of relevant anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Provides foundational knowledge of the diagnosis and management of endocrine disorders for new fellows.
  • Includes the first portion of our innovative thyroid/neck ultrasound curriculum and a hands on thyroid nodule.

 First-Year Fellow Didactics


  • The first-year fellow didactics cover all clinical endocrinology topics of key importance identified by the ABIM Blueprint.
  • These clinically focused educational sessions are scheduled twice weekly year-round and are presented by the VA and UCH faculty. A sample of the didactic schedule can be found here

 Second-Year Fellow Didactics


  • The second-year fellow didactics take a deeper dive into advanced endocrine and diabetes concepts
  • These take place on selected Wednesday mornings in the place of Journal Club

 Endocrine Grand Rounds

The weekly Endocrine Grand Rounds runs from September - June.

  • Attended by faculty from the Division and throughout the University, practicing endocrinologists from the community, fellows and other house staff, and students.
  • Clinically relevant presentations including newer developments in the basic sciences that are of increasing importance to a clinician.
  • Endocrine fellows have the opportunity to present a few clinical case discussions throughout the year.

 Journal Club

A Journal Club runs from September - June.

  • Fellows gather to discuss 1-2 recent or landmark articles of their choice.
  • Peer teaching and learning opportunity.
  • UCH consult attending participates ein all journal clubs.

 Peer Teaching


  • Senior fellows present on rare endocrine disorders.

 Endocrine Research Conference


Weekly Endocrine Research Conference from September through June.

  • Presentation of the latest endocrine related research by faculty from the Division and throughout the University, as well as visiting professors from other institutions.
  • Senior fellows have the opportunity to present their research projects and findings towards the end of the academic year.

 Endocrine Board Review


  • Our Endocrine Board Review series provides 2nd year and early 3rd year fellows with the opportunity to meet regularly with faculty content experts to review topics and questions covered by the ABIM Endocrinology Board Exam.

 Clinical Case Conferences

Each of the Clinical Case Conferences are held monthly, including:

  • Diabetes Clinical Conference
  • Metabolic Bone Conference
  • Multidisciplinary Pituitary Conference
  • Multidisciplinary Thyroid/Parathyroid Conference
  • Multidisciplinary Radioactive Iodine Conference 
  • MASLD Conference

The conferences focus on the discussion of interesting or challenging cases and includes review of pathology slides and imaging.

The Thyroid and Pituitary Conferences are multidisciplinary with specialists from Endocrinology, Surgery, Pathology and Radiology in attendance. Medical and Radiation Oncology colleagues often participate as well.

 Health Equity Curriculum

  • The curriculum is led by Dr. Rocio Pereira, the Director of the Denver Health Office of Health Equity and endocrine faculty member.
  • The curriculum includes fellow didactic sessions and small group discussions of health equity concepts and clinical cases.
