The New Year Brings new UCHealth Epic Functionality to Residents and Fellows
Clinical Affairs | CU School of Medicine Mar 20, 2020
Starting January 6, 2020, all residents and fellows without a DEA number have been able to electronically prescribe controlled substances (EPCS) to internal UCHealth pharmacies. EPCS requires dual authentication, and residents/fellows will have to download the DUO app to their smartphones to use this app when prescribing controlled substances to internal pharmacies. An attending co-signature will no longer be needed. Residents/fellows may already have this DUO app on their smartphones because UCHealth providers use to access Epic from outside of the hospital campus. The new functionality will decrease the need for residents/fellows to send paper prescriptions to internal pharmacies. Please see the attached tip sheet on how to download and configure the DUO app. If you have any questions, please reach out to Jonathan.Pell@cuanschutz.edu.
