| UCHealth Eye Center: Housed in the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute (RMLEI), is the center of operations for the University of Colorado Department of Ophthalmology and is located adjacent to the University of Colorado Hospital as part of the Anschutz Medical Campus, which is home to the University of Colorado School of Medicine and its associated clinical and research facilities. The University of Colorado Health Eye Center was established in 2001 and currently has over 80,000 patient visits per year. As a regional referral center, and the only academic eye center within a 500 mile radius, the variety and volume of pathology encountered is immense. |
| Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC): Denver Health is the county hospital for the county of Denver and is a nationally-recognized model for the delivery of health care. It is a level 1 regional trauma center in addition to being Denver’s safety net hospital for the uninsured. The eye clinic has 18 exam lanes and is staffed by 3 full-time faculty members. |
| Denver Veteran’s Administration Hospital (VA): Once new construction is completed, the Denver VA Hospital will be moving to the Anschutz Medical Campus from its current location about 5 miles away. The Denver VA is the regional referral center for all of Colorado and large areas of neighboring states. This provides a large volume of patients with a variety of pathologies. As a result, the surgical volume at this facility is consistently very high. |
Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHC): Children’s Hospital Colorado is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus, just across the street from the UCHealth Eye Center. The hospital opened in 2008 and is consistently recognized as one of the top pediatric health care facilities in the country. It is a large regional referral center that provides a very rich clinical and surgical experience. |
