Purpose

This Request for Applications (RFA), issued by the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, will provide salary support through the Blumenthal Fellowship to a graduate student or post-doctoral fellow who is working on Down syndrome or a related condition in any lab at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus or Boulder Campus.

The Blumenthal Fellowship fund was conceived at the 2014 Down Syndrome Research Symposium. The event was held in Tom Blumenthal’s honor to celebrate the closing of his lab after 41 years of operation. Joe Turner, then the CFO of Myogen, offered to start the fund with a substantial gift spread over five years. Blumenthal and Larry Gold, founder of SomaLogic, each agreed to do the same. John Sie, who funded the development of the Crnic Institute, offered to match all donations to support a fellowship focused on Down syndrome research.
