Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship

A one-year fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)

The Pediatric Dermatology fellowship at the University of Colorado is ACGME accredited and approved by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The goal of this pediatric dermatology fellowship is to provide future leaders in pediatric dermatology experiences in high-quality patient care, teaching, and generating scholarship in order to develop the knowledge and skills to become an expert in the field. Graduates of our program will excel at providing tertiary-level outpatient care and inpatient consultative services for children with skin disorders. They will also be effective educators of students, residents, and other health providers, and will have the foundation to launch a career in clinical or translational research.

This is a one-year postgraduate fellowship designed for the individual who has completed three years of dermatology residency training to develop additional clinical and academic skills in pediatric dermatology.

The trainee will spend up to eight half-days per week in pediatric dermatology clinics and sub-specialty clinics, such as vascular anomalies, epidermolysis bullosa, and PCOS at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Procedures such as pulsed dye laser ablation, excisional surgery, and treatment of hyperhidrosis are part of our clinical practice.

Fellows see inpatient consults with the pediatric dermatology attending and attend didactic sessions, including Grand Rounds, dermatopathology review, journal club, and special lectures during the fellowship.

Fellows are encouraged to develop an area of expertise within pediatric dermatology and follow through with an academic endeavor in that area during training.
