After an extraordinary career of scientific discovery, mentorship, and leadership, Dr. Dennis Roop has announced that he will be retiring from the Department of Dermatology effective October 2nd. Dennis’s pioneering contributions to epidermal stem cell biology, skin development, and tissue regeneration have had a lasting impact on the field and helped establish CU Dermatology’s national leadership in epithelial biology and regenerative medicine. His leadership as Director of the Gates Center, which transformed into the Gates Institute,Dennis built a nationally prominent interdisciplinary program in regenerative medicine, bringing together investigators across disciplines and advancing CU Anschutz’s leadership in translating fundamental discoveries into innovative approaches to tissue repair and regeneration. His vision, energy, and commitment helped build an enduring institution that has had a profound impact on our research, education, and global partnerships. Beyond these accomplishments, Dennis has been a generous colleague and steadfast champion of our department and its people. We are incredibly grateful for his many years of service, and we celebrate all that he has accomplished.
