Dual Adult-Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship

The Med-Peds Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus provides comprehensive subspecialty clinical and research training in both adult and pediatric patients with kidney disease. Training sites include the Children’s Hospital Colorado, University of Colorado Hospital, Denver Health Medical Center and the VA Medical Center.

This is a four-year dual program where the fellow completes the ACGME requirements for both adult and pediatric nephrology. The program directors will petition the ABP and ABIM on your behalf so that upon completion of the four years of training, you will be eligible to sit for both the pediatric and adult subspecialty board exams. 

Typical Schedule

Years 1 and 2: 6 months of adult clinical training and 6 months of pediatric clinical training, while maintaining a continuity clinic with both adult and pediatric patients.

Years 3 and 4: Primary focus on research (basic, translational or clinical) with minimal clinical care (approximately 20-25%). Fellows may be appointed to our T32 Research Training Program during years 3 and 4. Fellows are assigned a mentorship committee to oversee training and assist with tailoring training to the fellow’s career goals.
