The Division of GI, Tumor and Endocrine Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine, has a full-time faculty position available at the rank of Instructor for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).  Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides inpatient and outpatient medical care services at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH).

Key Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services as an Advanced Practice Provider for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (TACS) service at Anschutz Medical Campus. These duties will include both an inpatient rounding and consultative role. The Inpatient responsibilities include rounding, writing orders, independent imaging/laboratory review, patient assessment, patient education, care coordination, disease management, and discharge activities.  
  • The consult duties will include participating in trauma bay resuscitations, seeing emergency general surgery & trauma consults, admitting patients, collaborating with consultants, preforming bedside procedures and assisting in the operating room if needed.
  • There are additional outpatient responsibilities that may be necessary for cross coverage of our service including clinic care, triage of phone calls, emails or faxes, post-op care, follow-up on home care requests, management of referrals and follow-up on diagnostic lab and radiology tests. 
  • Close collaboration with general surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists and hospital staff will be necessary. One key feature of this position is the need to work in close collaboration with surgical residents.  Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel and multidisciplinary providers is essential.
  • The candidate will provide care to patients in the on the inpatient wards, the intensive care unit, acute care areas, and occasionally in the outpatient clinics. 
  • Given the rotating nature of the resident assignments to services, the NP/PA will be a critical part of service continuity and also a link between the inpatient and outpatient environments for patients. 
  • The census and acuity of clinical practice varies from service to service and NP/PAs may at times be asked to provide cross coverage clinical care on different services to deal with this issue.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a faculty position available at the rank of Instructor for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides medical care for patients on the overnight inpatient surgical specialty services at the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado Hospital is a high volume, high acuity surgical service. The candidate will be expected to provide focused coverage of Plastic Surgery, Burn Surgery, and Urology services. The role will include cross training and procedural training on selected services.

Clinical duties will include care of inpatient surgical patients, bedside procedures, inpatient consults, and ED admissions of the subspecialty surgical services. The candidate with be part of an interprofessional team which includes, APPs, residents, fellows and attending physicians but will also have the autonomy of being the front line inpatient provider for their service.

Key Responsibilities:
This is a 7-day nighttime service with 12.5 hour shifts. Rotating holiday and weekend coverage is expected.

Evaluate and manage patients on surgical subspecialty service, provide appropriate documentation of care including assessment and plan of the overnight events in collaboration with senior residents, fellows and attending physicians.

Respond to request for consultation of patients on the inpatient surgical subspecialty service in a timely manner. This includes obtaining a thorough history, performing an appropriate physical examination and ordering appropriate testing. This will require working collaboratively with senior residents, fellows and attending physicians on night teams.

Will be required to perform procedures for currently hospitalized patients and in the Emergency Department if providing consultation.

Maintain competency and enhance professional growth and development through continuing education, conferences, and seminars. Attend mandatory training.

Participate in quality improvement activities; assist in maintaining compliance with Joint Commission accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards.

Support and uphold established organizational policies, procedures, and objectives related to quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control.

Participate in the application process and development of a Center of Excellence designation as required.

Maintain patient confidentiality.

A local leader in outpatient treatment of Opioid Use Disorders and other addictive disorders, Porch Light Health, is looking for a certified Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse Practitioner to work in the specialty of Addiction Medicine in Pueblo, Colorado. We encourage new grads to apply as we will train you in the Addiction Medicine specialty. This job is 40 hours per week, clinic-based, located in Pueblo, Colorado. The medical Provider will see patients in clinic as well as via telehealth.   You would be helping persons suffering from addiction or substance use disorder such as alcohol, opioids, stimulants, and benzodiazepines, etc. No prior addiction medicine experience is necessary. Emergency Room, Primary care, or psych experience is helpful. Must have an interest in helping underserved populations and be willing to learn new concepts. The ability to administer intramuscular medication by injection is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care: Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of patients seeking MAT for opioid or alcohol use disorder.
Medication Management: Prescribe and monitor MAT medications (e.g., oral and injectable buprenorphine and naltrexone), ensuring appropriate dosing, adherence, and monitoring for potential side effects.

Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations to assess patient needs and treatment progress.

Collaborative Care: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, counselors, peer workers, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Patient Education: Educate patients on the nature of substance use disorder and the MAT process, and provide counseling on lifestyle changes, coping mechanisms, and return-to-use prevention.
Follow-Up Care: Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed, and coordinating care for any comorbid conditions.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) for all patient encounters, treatment plans, and medication management.

Compliance & Regulations: Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including MAT guidelines, HIPAA, and appropriate documentation of controlled substances.

Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary, ensuring patient and staff safety at all times.

Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts to enhance patient care outcomes and clinic operations.

Qualifications:
Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing (APRN), physician assistant (PA), or other related field.

Licensing & Certification: Active, unrestricted state license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).  Active DEA registration status.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience, with at least 0.5 years in addiction medicine, specifically in MAT clinics.

This position will have primary responsibilities at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) Anschutz Medical Campus on the PHM Inpatient Complex Pulmonary Team (Bronze Team), Transitional Respiratory and Airway Center for Kids (TRACK) team, and secondary responsibilities on the general medicine physician/APP inpatient teams. This position will work independently and in collaboration with pediatric hospitalist and pulmonary teams to provide high quality acute and complex care to patients with primary pulmonary conditions and high medical complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs direct front line care of inpatient pulmonary and complex discharge planning/coordination in collaboration with the Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine consultant service.

Performs direct front line care of the general medicine pediatric population of all age ranges, developmental, nutritional and physiological status in the inpatient setting.

The Division of Cardiology at the University of Colorado is recruiting an Adult (or Adult/Gero) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide care to patients on a non-teaching cardiology service. The patients included will typically be post-procedural or short, planned admissions. This includes patients undergoing ablations, pacemaker and AICD implantations, TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman device implantation, and Tikosyn admits.  There will also be a component of general cardiology consults included. This position will involve primarily inpatient with some possibilities for ambulatory management of these patients as part of a multi- disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in general cardiology with some exposure to cardiac procedures.

The Division of GI and Hepatology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus School of Medicine has a 1.0 FTE faculty position available at the rank of Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides outpatient and inpatient medical care services at the University of Colorado Hospital Longs Peak Hospital for the Gastroenterology Division. Primary functions in the outpatient clinic and inpatient/consult service include providing care for patients with various gastrointestinal disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatobiliary diseases, acute nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, and/or abdominal pain, etc. In the inpatient setting, the provider will see new consults, discuss with attending physician, follow up after procedures, arrange for discharge medication as indicated post procedure, and collaborate with physician colleagues on coordination of care.

Other functions include coordinating, triaging, and organizing patient flow, patient follow up contact and test result review. It is anticipated that job duties will take a minimum of 40 hours per week including a minimum of 32 hours of direct patient contact (clinic visits with outpatients and new and return visits with inpatients) that will take place each week.

Key Responsibilities:
·       Independently performing age-appropriate history and physical examinations for complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients
