Start and Support the Change
Background
You have undergone a significant investment into the planning phase of your project work. Now, it is time to START your intervention and put all of your plants from the prior three phases into place.
- Implement your Awareness Campaign
As you launch your intervention, implementing your Change Management plan is critical!
First, return to your communication plan and follow – through!
- What routine ways will you communicate your work: Send the emails, announce at meetings, and chat with your people during the work day.
- What are your creative ways to communicate? These should include elements of fun, humor, connectivity, and food!
- You should communicate in some mechanism every 1 – 3 days at the start of your intervention.
Next, return to your Quick Win plan, and follow – through!
- Create a combination of individual and group wins.
- Broadcast these so that everyone can share in the wins!
Apply principles of Diffusion of Innovation:
- At this time, you likely have your Early Adopters on board – how can they help you spread your idea?
- How will you use data to get the Early Majority engaged?
- How will you use peer pressure to get the Late Majority engaged?
- Are there any laggards? If so, apply your Resistance Campaign to understand their motivations.
Perform a Resistance Analysis every 1 –2 weeks.
- Who do you sense is resisting? These may be your laggards.
- What SCARF domain are they resisting against (status, certainty, autonomy, relatedness, fairness)?
- If not, can you pivot and bulk up another domain for that person or group?
Ensure you are following your Data Collection plan to track your data at regular intervals. Once you start to see data, ensure you are both addressing any problems or deviations that arise. Then, ensure you are sharing it in your communication plan. Your data may reveal barriers that arise – find these and remove them!
