  • From Multiple Trauma to Major Recovery

    Multiple trauma patient, Devyn Brinkerhoff, was airlifted to University of Colorado Hospital after being in a horrific car accident in Gillette, Wyoming. The severity of her injuries were some of the worst that the UCH doctors, trauma surgeons, and staff had ever seen. After an aggressive stabilization and multiple surgeries, Devyn woke up and began the long road to recovery with the help of doctors, medical staff, rehab specialists, and the unconditional support from her family. This is a story which, instead of ending in tragedy, became a tale of courage, love, and hope.

    A local doctor is helping out the talented cowboys who sustained some sort of injury during their two weeks at the National Western Stock Show. And he comes with a sympathetic perspective—he's a cowboy himself, and used to ride bulls and saddle bronc when he was younger.

    Dr. Jason Stoneback named to 5280's Top Docs

    The Denver magazine's annual list includes 315 physicians across 95 medical specialties, with doctors chosen by other physicians. The magazine surveys area doctors and asks them which metro-area physicians they would trust to treat themselves and their families. We're proud that Dr. Stoneback is one of our faculty that made the 2015 list!

    Ortho trauma upgrade keeps bad bones in the house

    Being a tertiary-care institution means University of Colorado Hospital often takes the toughest cases. Yet for years, UCH was referring some of its most challenging orthopedic trauma cases to other hospitals. Not only has Dr. Stoneback's presence stopped the outflow of patients, it's brought them in.

    Stoneback said an orthopedic surgeon would have opened Moore's lower leg and used a scalpel to open the lateral compartment—a collection of muscles, nerves and blood vesicles—to release the swelling. If doctors caught Moore's issue early enough, Moore could escape long-term muscle damage.​
