Following your surgery, it is important to carefully follow the post-operative instructions provided by Dr. Federer. The guidance below applies to most patients — your specific instructions may vary depending on the type of surgery performed and your individual circumstances. Dr. Federer may provide additional written and/or verbal instructions tailored to your needs.

Keep the surgical site clean and dry as instructed. Follow specific dressing change directions. Notify our office promptly if you notice increased redness, swelling, or drainage.

Follow recommended activity restrictions discussed with you by Dr. Federer. Avoid certain movements, weight-bearing, or strenuous activities. Proper rest is crucial for healing.

If physical therapy is recommended, attend all scheduled sessions and follow your therapist's instructions. Rehabilitation is vital for regaining strength, flexibility, and function.

Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with Dr. Federer. These visits are important for monitoring progress, removing sutures or staples, and addressing concerns.
