Gayla Elliott M.A., A.T.R. received her Master’s degree in art therapy at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, and her Master’s in counseling psychology at Union Institute and University, Cincinnati, OH. She is an art therapist with a long career of working in the field of trauma recovery. In her 30+ years of providing art therapy services in many clinical settings, most recently she spent 9 years working with active duty military at Camp Lejeune Naval Medical Center, in Jacksonville, NC, in the mental health and traumatic brain injury clinics. She joined the MIBH team in November 2018. Gayla takes an eclectic approach to art therapy incorporating mindfulness-based, insight-oriented, and experiential techniques to tap into creative resources, enhancing and promoting healing for body, mind, and spirit. She is an artist, writer, musician and lover of the outdoors.
