The HOMER Study

Created in response to primary care clinicians’ and practices’ request for scientific evidence and guidelines, HOMER is an ongoing national study comparing three methods of induction for medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD): home, office, and telehealth inductions.  This study will help answer the questions:

• Does one induction method result in better patient treatment outcomes?
• What are the characteristics and circumstances that make a patient a better candidate for one method over the others?

Researchers at the University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine are leading this study, in partnership with the American Academy of Family Physicians National Research Network.  Support for this study comes from the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute.

Practices and patients participating in this study are part of an exciting effort to support patients seeking to overcome the grip of OUD and practices striving to provide the most effective evidence-based treatment for individual patients.
