Well-being at the CU School of Medicine
The University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM) is committed to supporting the well-being of our faculty, residents, and fellows. Enhancing well-being is a core priority because delivering world-class care, education, and research requires a workplace that supports our people in doing their best work.
The 2025 Faculty and Resident Well-being Survey is now closed.
About the Well-being Survey
Every 18–24 months, we invite faculty and residents/fellows to complete a confidential survey that uses validated, nationally benchmarked measures. Your feedback is essential and helps us understand what’s working, where we can improve, and how CU SOM compares with peer institutions.
Why Your Participation Matters
Your input directly informs school and departmental action plans. By gathering input at regular intervals, we can:
How Results are Shared
We share results with leaders across CU SOM, departments, and clinical partners to guide strategies that enhance well-being, professional fulfillment, and excellence in patient care, education, and research. The time you invest in responding—and the discussions that follow—help build an environment where we can all thrive.
We deeply appreciate your participation and commitment to making the University of Colorado School of Medicine an even stronger, healthier community.
Thank you,
Lotte Dyrbye, MD | MHPE Senior Associate Dean and Chief Well-being Officer, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Jenny Reese, MD | Associate Dean for Faculty Well-being, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Vice Chair of Faculty Well-being, Department of Pediatrics, and Medical Director of Well-being, Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO)
Invitation
Once the survey is open, you will receive and email with a unique, individualized link. Please do not forward this link, as it is tied to your email address.
Confidentiality
The survey is administered by an independent vendor, and only aggregate, de-identified results are shared.
Results
Findings are shared with faculty, departmental/divisional/sectional leadership, department well-being leaders, and our clinical partners.
Action
Departmental well-being leaders use survey data and follow-up discussions to develop both local and School-wide action plans.
This year's survey has a few important updates designed to reduce burden and strengthen impact:
One Survey, Less Burden
CU SOM and CHCO partnered to combine surveys, so you'll receive just one.
CHCO-Specific Items
A few extra questions apply only to faculty credentialed at CHCO.
Tailored Versions
Clinical faculty/residents and scientists/non-clinical faculty each receive the version most relevant to them.
Sharper Action Focus
Results will drive both local departmental plans and School-wide well-being priorities.
Your participation ensures these changes lead to meaningful improvements in the faculty and trainee experience.
We are grateful for your time and thoughtful participation. By sharing your experiences, you help us identify what’s working, where challenges remain, and how we can take action together. Your voice is essential to building and supporting a thriving CU SOM community.
