Being the program director for our Diabetes Fellowship, and being involved in teaching about diabetes to trainees of all stages and to colleagues are highlights of my work life. A little bit about where I grew up: I was born in Austin, Texas, and lived in a few different places in the U.S. (Indiana, Virginia) and the world during childhood, including Malaysia, and Taiwan where I graduated from high school. I’ve also lived in California (Pomona College), New York (medical school at the University of Rochester), and Utah (residency and chief residency at the University of Utah).

I did my endocrinology fellowship training at the University of Colorado and joined the faculty at the Denver VA Medical Center for the first part of my career. I moved my clinical and academic work back to the University of Colorado Hospital in 2012. I see patients in the Endocrine and Diabetes Clinic and the Transplant Metabolic Clinic at UCH, and as part of the Glucose Management Team at the University of Colorado Hospital, which I directed from 2014-2025.

I am also involved in CU Anschutz Campus research administration, with clinical trials in the IND/IDE Office, and as an associate director for a longitudinal course in the School of Medicine. I do a lot of work with professional societies related to guidelines and clinical education. I am married to a Colorado native, and have a daughter and two dogs. I love to read, eat and cook, and spend time outdoors running, hiking, and cycling.
