In Colorado, no one can automatically make medical decisions for you. This means not even your spouse, adult children, nor doctor. Because of this, it is very important to name a person who would speak for you based on your wishes.

Choose a Decision Maker
Who would speak for you if you couldn’t speak for yourself? In Colorado, no one can automatically make medical decisions for you. It is very important to think about your values and name a person who would speak for you based on your wishes.

You and your needs are unique! Below find answers to help best serve you. Even though your needs are unique to you, everyone (18 years and older) can benefit from choosing a decision maker.
