Tracey has been with the Department of Surgery for 22 years and has helped build research throughout the Department. She started with the Division of GI, Trauma, and Endocrine Surgery (GITES) and gradually expanded her role, providing research assistance to more and more of the Department's divisions over the years. (The Clinical Research and Trials Unit now serves the entire Department of Surgery.) Tracey has several publications and shares the Department of Surgery's vision to Improve Every Life. She is an avid environmentalist and believes that in order to have healthy patients, we need a healthy planet. She is a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Foundation, writes a column for her local paper, and has received several awards for her community work.

Mohammed H. Al-Musawi, MD

Mohammed is a cardiovascular surgeon from Baghdad. He started his new position in the University of Colorado Office of Clinical Research in November 2017. He is a research coordinator for the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Division of Vascular Surgery. He finished medical school in 1994 and earned his specialty degree in 2005, as a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon in Baghdad. He received a Master of Medical Education from University of Glasgow in 2011. Since 2015, he has been the associate editor of the New Iraqi Medical Journal. He was the director of Iraqi Center for Heart Diseases 2015-2016. Mohammed became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in July 2018. Mohammed strongly believes in teamwork in a friendly environment.

Zeus is a clinical research coordinator and joined the Department of Surgery in June 2019. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado Boulder in May 2019, graduating with academic distinction. He has performed past clinical research in urologic oncology, having presented several posters as well as published his research. He plans on attending medical school and pursuing a surgical specialty. He has a high passion for patient-focused care, believing that a patient’s quality of life comes second to none. A lifelong native of Colorado, Zeus enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking. He also has a large passion for fitness, bodybuilding, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Jaimie is a clinical research coordinator in the Department of Surgery, joining the department in August 2019. Having received her Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2013, she has spent the majority of her last six years working in the biotechnology industry. Her last industry role was an analyst at a digital pathology CRO, gaining clinical experience working on pre- and active-trial client projects. A native Wisconsinite, she is passionate about her home state sports teams, as well as powerlifting, swing dancing, being involved in her community, and spoiling her cat, Theo, and two chinchillas, Gwyn and Chilly. She is also heavily involved with Swingin’ Denver, a swing dance school that provides classes and hosts events in the Denver metro area.

Quintin is a clinical research coordinator joining the Department of Surgery in August 2019. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History (2013) and a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Northern Colorado (2015). Since obtaining these he has been pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociology from Kent State University, expecting to complete his dissertation in 2020. He has published academic papers in journals such as Ethnic and Racial Studies and the #1 teaching resource through the Teaching Resources and Innovations Library for Sociology (2017 and 2018). His academic interests lie in methodology and understanding the reasons for clinical trial participation. A native of Colorado, Quintin spends his free time playing ice hockey, watching the Avalanche and Broncos, and playing fetch with his dog, Delphi.

Tyler is a clinical research professional for the Department of Surgery, Section of Burn Surgery. He has spent the past fifteen years gaining valuable experience across the healthcare and personal wellness spectrum, with an interest in public health campaigns and chronic disease prevention. Prior to joining the research team with the Department of Surgery, Tyler was the co-chair for the Colorado Skin Cancer Task Force for two years, leading efforts to provide education and reduce skin cancer rates around the globe. He holds a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Regis University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Northern Colorado. In his spare time, Tyler enjoys exploring the vibrant foodie scene in Denver, Olympic weightlifting, and spending time with his family, friends, and his Spinone Italiano puppy, Ravioli.
