As the PreAward Program Director, Jessica brings nearly 13 years of preaward experience to the PASS team and is responsible for overseeing team operations, onboarding new participating units, and engaging with stakeholder groups, in particular the PASS Executive Committee. Prior to her current role, Jessica held grants administration and management related positions with the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (Washington, DC). She has a MA in Classical Archaeology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a BA in Classics and Anthropology from the University of Kansas.
Alex has 6 years of grants management experience with government, industry and foundation sponsors. He works closely with the Departments of Surgery, Ophthalmology and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to develop successful proposals that stand out for their accuracy and responsiveness to sponsor requirements. Before joining the PASS in early 2018, Alex oversaw grant writing, budget development and outcome reporting with a Chicago-based nonprofit. Alex received his master’s degree in Public Service Management from DePaul University in 2016.
Haley majored in Organizational Leadership at the University of Oklahoma and has worked with multiple development teams within the nonprofit sector. Before moving to Denver, she worked as the volunteer coordinator at the Children’s Clinics in Tucson, AZ. She loves figuring out new organizational tools, volunteering at local nonprofits, traveling, and is always up for a good cup of coffee. Haley joined the PASS team in November 2019 and handles RPPRs and IPAs as well as assisting with various types of grant submissions.
Myka joined the PreAward Shared Services team in March 2020 after spending time as a PreAward Specialist at OGC and in other grants management roles around campus. At OGC, she reviewed on average 110 proposals per month for over 25 departments and/or centers. She completed the University of Colorado Denver’s Research Administration Workforce Curriculum certification in 2019 and now works with the curriculum directors to teach various PreAward Grant courses to University faculty and administration. She brings her considerable experience to her work on the PASS team supporting the Department of Emergency Medicine. Myka has a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi. She loves mixing her communication skills with her grant knowledge to provide excellent preaward support services to the various departments that the teams serves.
Braden Neihart is a PreAward Grants Consultant with the PreAward Shared Services group. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Denver and a Masters of Arts in History from Colorado State University. Previously, he worked at the San Diego State University Research Foundation, focusing on compliance and contracting. In his free time, Braden conducts research on beer and brewing in the American West and loves to ski and garden.
Jessica joined the PASS team in March 2019, after completing the University of Colorado Denver’s Research Administration Workforce Curriculum (RAWC) certification. Jessica has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from CU, and worked as a Senior Professional Research Assistant for over 20 years prior to her work in grants management, where she gained experience assisting PIs from the programmatic side of research in various departments working with government, industry, and foundation sponsors. Due to her diverse background, she brings a unique set of skills to her work on the PASS team, primarily supporting OBGYN and Geriatrics. Jessica has also worked at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and Oklahoma State University – University Multispectral Laboratories.
Sarah is a MPA graduate from the University of Central Florida and has, over the last four years, be a member of the PreAwards team at UCF’s College of Engineering and Computer Science. After spending the past eighteen years in Florida, she’s excited to become a Colorado resident and explore all the state has to offer!
