PreAward Shared Services (PASS) is a team of experienced grant specialists providing proposal development support for participating departments at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus. Grant submissions have become increasingly competitive, complex, and frequent, resulting in a need for specialized pre-award administrators. Without the resources for a dedicated pre-award position, many departments are forced to add pre-award functions to post-award positions and increase the administrative burden on Principal Investigators (PIs).
By using a shared services model, PASS provides another option. Participating departments have a dedicated grant consultant. When there is an increase in grant submissions, unexpected employee turnover, or last-minute applications, the full PASS group is available to provide support. PASS provides the individualized attention of a department administrator with the critical benefit of adapting to interruptions in the pre-award cycle.
PASS currently supports the departments of Cell and Developmental Biology, Emergency Medicine, Immunology and Microbiology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Pathology, Physiology and Biophysics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiation Oncology, Surgery; the Department of Medicine divisions of Endocrinology Metabolism & Disease, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Geriatrics, Hematology/Blood & Marrow Transplant, Rheumatology, and Health Care Policy & Research; and the Office of Research Education.
