This webpage has been created as a central repository of milestone assessment information for faculty, coordinators and fellows in the Department of Pediatrics. In June of 2015, our core fellowship programs (listed below) started reporting on a set of 21 sub-competencies and milestones.
Simply defined, a milestone is a significant point in development. For accreditation purposes, the Milestones are competency-based developmental outcomes (e.g., knowledge, skills, attitudes, and performance) that can be demonstrated progressively by residents and fellows from the beginning of their education through graduation to the unsupervised practice of their specialties. (taken from the milestones FAQs document provided below)
Each sub-specialty has developed a Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), which is comprised of faculty within the sub-specialty who play a significant role in the education of their fellow(s). With the assistance of the program coordinator, the CCC will gather feedback about each fellow and then report on a set of 21 sub-competencies.
