First year MHA student, Jacq Powers, already presented her early capstone project work at an international conference! Jacq just traveled to Montreal, Canada, to present a poster at the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) Scientific Sessions, which is the premier annual conference for interventional cardiology. Jacq's mentor, Dr. Jenny Zablah, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and a Congenital Interventional Cardiologist at Children's Hospital Colorado. Dr. Zablah also serves as the Clinical Director of the MHA Program.
The SCAI Scientific Session provided Jacq with in-depth exposure to late-breaking clinical trials and highlighted cutting-edge developments and ongoing discussions within the field of interventional cardiology. Jacq noted that the conference was attended primarily by practicing physicians and her work as a master's student stood out.
Jacq also enjoyed the opportunity to learn from others at the conference. She said, "I had the opportunity to interact with residents and fellows in cardiology, who were very open in sharing their experiences in medical school and training programs. I learned about the factors they considered when choosing their programs, including clinical exposure, mentorship opportunities, and institutional reputation. These conversations provided valuable insight into different educational pathways and helped inform my own future decisions."
Congratulations to Jacq and her mentor, Dr. Zablah, on your work and presenting at SCAI!
