Lone Tree Primary Care Health Equity in Action Lab
Clinic teams learning together
Jan 22, 2025
In 2024 the clinic team at Lone Tree Primary Care completed a Health Equity Action Lab: Foundations in Equity training together.55 staff and providers participated in at least one of the four sessions, with many completing all four sessions. Here are there testimonials of their experience.
"I took these classes on campus, initially; but realized, quickly, how much our entire clinic would benefit. I was so grateful to Dr. Lee for allowing us to set up the training for everyone in our office. And I have found it even more valuable to have done these classes, now, side by side with my own everyday colleagues. Yes, it's always great to meet others and learn of their experiences- but it was so powerful to think about and brainstorm how OUR clinic and OUR environment could improve. We learned things about one another we never would have though to ask and when all was said and done, we were energized to TAKE ACTION and move our collectively decided upon goals forward and have already implemented at least one change within 1 week of finishing the course!"
Rachel Rodriguez, MD
Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs
"The HEAL program was an invaluable opportunity to unite and educate the providers and staff at Lone Tree Primary Care. We took time to listen to each other's unique perspectives and backgrounds. In doing so, we learned so much about each other! We have expanded our understanding of DEIA and now have a shared knowledge base and vocabulary to continue these important conversations. The HEAL sessions have been a crucial step in team building, improving communication, and developing ways to make Lone Tree Primary Care a more equitable and welcoming environment."
Jennifer Corliss, MD
"Only having participated in the 4th session, I absolutely found value in this and immediately was interested in bringing this back to our other practice. The value seen in what is discussed and in opening one's view has been impactful and I look forward to learning more from the team regarding the lessons they will carry forward."
David Baez
Practice Administrator, Lone Tree Primary Care
"The MA team felt that the HEAL program was beneficial. They have taken some of the points and put them in practice. I think that it is a different way of thinking about these issues and that is good. I have noticed that MAs are getting better about being the same person in the room and outside the room."
Heather Goodwin, MA
Lead MA, Lone Tree Primary Care
"The Foundations in Equity training has ignited a meaningful dialogue amongst our staff. It's encouraging to see everyone reflecting deeply on these important issues, sharing perspectives, and engaging in discussion that will ultimately enhance our clinic's commitment to inclusivity and fairness. This collective effort is a crucial step towards fostering a more equitable environment for both our team and the patients we serve."
