An Interview with Joanna Stratton: Whole Person Health

Jul 22, 2026About the Interviewee: Dr. Joanna Sturhahn Stratton (she/her), PhD, LMFT, Licensed Psychologist, and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Dr. Stratton brings more than two decades of experience blending clinical care, program evaluation, and interprofessional education to improve whole person health in primary care and academic settings.
Since 2008 she has served with the University of Colorado School of Medicine—most recently moving from a long‑standing part‑time role to full‑time Associate Professor in the Family Medicine Residency—where she supervises APA psychology trainees and family medicine residents, delivers didactic training on integrated care, and provides behavioral health services in medical clinics. Her work spans curriculum development (including Integrated Healthcare and Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning), program evaluation for underserved populations, quality improvement initiatives, and leadership in interprofessional education.
Dr. Stratton was also a full professor at Regis University, where she has led clinical coordination, affiliate faculty development, and community health initiatives such as Regis Neighborhood Health. Her research and presentations focus on integrated behavioral health, supervision models, transitions of care, and stigma reduction around opioid use disorders. Joanna brings practical, evidence‑based strategies to clinicians, trainees, and community partners.
