The CMIR commits $100,000 per year to be issued as awards of up to $5,000. Funds must be spent on CMIR services such as Research Core expertise and resources, sample access fees and data management/ statistical support. Microgrant projects should be structured to be completed in 12 months or less.
All CMIR members and trainee investigators from the CU-AMC or affiliated institutions are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to CMIR Members and to early career investigators (e.g., graduate students, postdoctoral research fellows and faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor or below who have not yet been awarded an R01 or equivalent grant). Individuals may not receive more than one award per year, with preference given to those not previously funded.
Proposals will be evaluated by the CMIR Grant Committee.
Microgrant proposals will be reviewed and discussed by CMIR leadership at a monthly meeting and funded on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Proposals will be scored independently by two committee members based on the following criteria: scientific rationale, feasibility (including justification of sample size), utilization of CMIR resources to fulfill the Center mission, and potential for publication and/or future funding.
Before submitting your application, we STRONGLY recommend reaching out to the leadership of the Core(s) you are interested to utilize to discuss your proposal. In addition, the biostatistics group within the Populations and Data Sciences Core is available, if needed, to provide guidance regarding statistical methodologies.
