Philanthropy is at the Heart of the Ludeman Center
Since 2006, we have funded 104 researchers from 35 different divisions and departments across the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, from bioengineering and emergency medicine to pediatrics and psychiatry. The ground-breaking research that has stemmed from their work includes contributing to over 1,800 publications that have significantly added to the body of knowledge regarding women’s health and sex and gender differences.

Nan Eklund
"We are on an upward trajectory, and I am excited to be part of it." As an enthusiastic and highly effective leader, Nan Eklund has played a tremendous role in the growth of the Ludeman Center. Nan’s strong voice, exuberance, and dedication to the mission of the center has inspired many community leaders to become powerful advocates of women's health research. Nan commented, “Many people are not aware of the need for research in this area. It is important to them and their families."
The Anschutz Foundation
The Anschutz Foundation has supported the Ludeman Center for more than a decade and has created two endowed chairs in women’s health and sex differences. “We saw the need to be a catalyst to move women’s health research forward." “Quality of life begins with health. If you don't have good health, how do you have a quality life?” It was this notion that inspired Phil and Nancy Anschutz and The Anschutz Foundation to make transformational gifts to the CU Anschutz Medical Campus and the the Ludeman Family Center for Women’s Health Research.
Kate Brown
Understanding cardiovascular disease in women’s health is personal for Kate Brown, founder of Boulder Organic Foods and a Ludeman Center Advisory Board member. Her father and grandfather both had cardiovascular disease, so Kate visited a doctor to better understand her risk factors. “I told my new doctor about my family history and she said, ‘you don’t have to worry about that – women don’t get heart disease.’ That was terrifying,” said Kate.
