Background 

Suet Nee Chen, PhD, received her PhD from Baylor College of Medicine. Her passion for individualized medicine to have the potential to improve the quality of life and life extension of both male and female patients is what drives her research.  

Research + Funding 

Dr. Chen is a Women's Health Innovation Scholar at the center and in 2022, began her Ludeman Center-funded research project titled, “Sex Differences in Transcriptional Regulatory Networks in the Pathogenesis of Dilated Cardiomyopathy.” The research is dedicated to determining the role of biological sex in dysregulated transcription factors and signaling pathways involved in apoptosis, inflammation and metabolic stress.  

The Ludeman Center provided mentorship and funding for Dr. Chen’s early-career research and helped foster her and other researchers’ career development.  

Transforming Women’s Health 

Dr. Chen has an excitement for scientific discovery and is continuously motivated by the contribution of biological sex to the development of heart diseases. Currently, her research priority is to delineate the molecular genetics and pathogenesis of Hereditary Cardiomyopathies and facilitate the development of individualized medicine to patients with inherited cardiomyopathies.
