Background
Jeanelle Sheeder, PhD, received her degree from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and in 2010 received the Travel Award from the Ludeman Center who provided her with funding, learning and networking opportunities.
Research + Funding
Her current research work prioritizes contraception, abortion, group based prenatal care and pregnancy outcomes particularly related to disparities. Dr. Sheeder’s expertise is in clinical research in these areas and has led her to investigate contraceptive choice among female adolescents in a clinic that seeks to eliminate many of the commonly reported barriers to contraceptive uptake. It is her hope that this research will improve the overall health of high-risk, overweight young women by increasing the uptake of effective contraceptive methods that will reduce their risk of adolescent pregnancy, future obesity and cardiovascular disease.
Transforming Women’s Health
Dr. Sheeder understands the importance of reproductive health being critical to the health of all people. “It is essential that we continue to conduct high-quality and impactful research in all aspects of reproductive health care as we are seeing a worsening of many outcomes in the US,” she shares.
