Medical Student Program

At the Department of Surgery Medical Student Program our goal is to educate medical students about the field of surgery.

The Surgery Department offers required and elective courses, extracurricular activities, research opportunities, and career advising to medical students interested in surgical careers.

Descriptions of all of our courses are available in the UCD Course Book, along with the contact information for the individual course directors and coordinators. In addition to the information on this site, visiting students and international students should visit the UCD's extern and international student pages.

The Grover Surgical Society (GSS) is the surgery interest group sponsored by the Department of Surgery for medical students interested in a career in surgery. GSS sponsors monthly lectures during the academic year, two dinners per year at the Surgery Chair's home, and informational sessions about residencies for fourth-year students.
