Our residents are diligently training to become the next generation of plastic surgeons.
Haley Desjardins, MD, grew up in Raymond, Maine, and attended Tufts University School of Medicine. After residency, Desjardins aspires to have a broad based general plastics practice to take care of a variety of patients. In her free time, she enjoys live music, travel, hiking, weight-lifting and exploring new breweries in Colorado.
Michael Gehring, MD, grew up in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, and attended Medical College of Wisconsin. Gehring wants to specialize in Reconstruction and Hand & Microsurgery when he finishes the program later this year. In his free time, Big Mike enjoys deep house (especially ZHU), Japanese whiskey and going to the gym. He is thrilled to be going back home to MCW for a fellowship in hand & microsurgery.
Taylor Allenby, MD, is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine. Allenby is interested in pursuing general plastic surgery with a mix of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. Outside of residency, she enjoys hot yoga/pilates, golf, snowboarding, hiking, sleeping, cooking and exploring Denver restaurants.
Elliot Le, MD, is originally from Aiea, Hawaii, and attended Duke School of Medicine. Le is interested in many aspects of plastic surgery, including microsurgery, hand and upper extremity surgery, aesthetic surgery and general reconstruction. He enjoys exploring Denver's food scene and outdoors with his wife, golfing, staying active and following his favorite sports teams (go Lakers and Blue Devils).
Jacob B. Hammond, MD, grew up in Alvin, Texas, and attended medical school at Texas A&M College of Medicine. He is interested in pursuing breast reconstruction and aesthetic plastic surgery after residency. In his free time, Hammond enjoys watching the newest top 10 documentary on Netflix, cooking the latest Matty Matheson recipe and spending quality time with his wife and son.
Ariel Clare Johnson, MD, is originally from Tucson, Arizona, and attended medical school at the University of Arizona. She aspires to become a craniofacial plastic surgeon. Outside of medicine, Johnson enjoys gardening, spin class, skiing, walking her dog and spending time with friends and family.
Lynn Orfahli, MD, grew up in numerous places, including Cleveland, Ohio, and attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Orfahli wants to specialize in hand and lower extremity salvage and to take her lifelong passion for education forward into her career as a surgeon. She enjoys climbing, swimming, failing at snowboarding, going to concerts/shows, hanging out with her dogs, traveling, jigsaw puzzles and reading (especially sci-fi).
Alexis K. Bagwell, MD, is originally from Prince George’s County, Maryland, and attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. While still open to subspecialities, she has a particular interest in microsurgery. In her free time, Bagwell enjoys putting her passport to use and spending time with family and friends.
Steven Dawson, MD, is originally from Miami, Florida, and attended Indiana University School of Medicine. He plans to specialize in general plastic surgery and aesthetics when he graduates from the University of Colorado Plastic Surgery residency program. Jerry Yang, MD, is originally from Beijing, China. He attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, CO. While not yet committed to a subspecialty, he aspires to be a lifelong learner and a well-rounded surgeon who can balance patient care with education and research. Yang enjoys spending time with his family, playing board games with his friends and listening to audiobooks. His favorite audiobook is The Martian.
Marlie Fisher, MD, is our hometown shero: she grew up in Colorado, attended medical school at the CU Anschutz School of Medicine and is now pursuing a career in reconstructive surgery in the University of Colorado Plastic Surgery residency program. Outside of her medical pursuits, she enjoys spending time with her family, skiing and playing golf. Fun fact: she met her husband at a cadaver lab during medical school.
Musunga Angela Mulenga, MD, is originally from Ndola, Zambia, and attended medical school at Wright State University Boonshoft SOM in Dayton, Ohio. She is still exploring subspecialties, but her ultimate goal is to build a career that lets her practice in both the States and her home country—bringing expertise home and making a global impact. Outside of residency, Mulenga enjoys strength training, event curating, hiking, brunch, concerts, traveling and spending time with her family, friends and fur baby, Koda.
Taylor Clegg, MD, is originally from Middleton, Idaho, and attended medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine. She is interested in many sides of plastics, breast reconstruction, hand and upper extremity, and general plastics reconstruction. She loves doing anything outdoors (hiking, climbing, camping, skiing, staring out the 11th floor hospital window), sharing her passion for brunch with the gal pals, and trying to beat her fastest time on the daily NYT mini crossword. Her current record is 29 seconds!
Markos Mardourian, MD, grew up in Glyfada, Greece, before moving to Los Angeles, California. He attended medical school at the University of Florida and is interested in hand, microsurgery and general plastic surgery. One of his career aspirations is to train and empower future plastic surgery trainees. During his free time, Markos enjoys working out at the gym, soccer, hiking, tennis, ping pong, billiards, watching basketball and attending music festivals.
