Department of Radiology COVID-19 Response

General Overview

The health and safety of our CU Anschutz campus community is paramount and the driving force behind every decision we make as we address the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have deployed a series of protocols to keep our campus community safe, in accordance with the Guiding Principles we developed in response to COVID-19.

Campus response has included: 

• Limiting on-campus access; restricting university-sponsored travel
• Screening process for approved campus access [daily health questionnaire, temperature checks]
• Mask wearing and physical distancing requirements
• Extra cleaning and sanitation precautions on high-touch surfaces and public areas
  • We have deployed a new disinfecting EMist system regularly, capable of effectively disinfecting up to 50,000 square feet/hour.

Our officials and medical experts, in close coordination with state and local public health experts, are actively monitoring any possible developments and impacts to campus operations. 

Additionally, campus leadership has formed a COVID-19 taskforce to address continuity of operations (COOP) plans.

Scheduling

The Department of Radiology participated in a platooning scheduling system in order to best protect the needs of our trainees and faculty members. "Platooning" is a two-team system that helps residents/fellows provide clinical care while ensuring the maintenance of a healthy workforce. Residents/fellows are divided into two groups: "active duty" and "working remotely". Active duty residents/fellows participate in all clinical care activities. Residents/fellows designated as working remotely participate in educational activities such as didactics, online modules, study, scholarly activities, and quality improvement projects.

Education

All of our lectures and conferences were moved to a virtual setting to prevent large gatherings and continue educational activities. All travel to conferences for residents and faculty has been suspended. 

All interviews are being conducted remotely.

Testing

If you are experiencing severe symptoms, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

If you are a faculty or staff member at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, or CU Denver, and need COVID-19 symptom and testing triage: 

• Please call Occupational Health at 303-724-4663. 
• The triage line is open 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you are a student at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus and need COVID-19 symptom and testing triage or non-emergent medical care for any reason: 

• Please call the Campus Health Center at 303-724-6242. 
• The center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with after-hours available.

Additionally, UCHealth is offering Virtual Urgent Care to anyone in Colorado including those who don't have insurance. Learn more here.

Per CDPHE, if you have COVID-19 symptoms, you are encouraged to contact your primary care provider and to get a free test at approved Colorado community testing sites. 

• Check testing site details for whether an appointment or doctor’s note is required. 
• If you do not have a primary care provider, please call the Campus Health Center (303-724-6242).
