CANVAS
- Incoming students must watch all of the videos and successfully complete all of the quizzes regarding lab safety from Occupational Health. Successful completion of each quiz unlocks the ability to view the next video. This will be required before access to the vivaria can be granted.
- Incoming students who do not receive the link and passcode for the courses should contact their Program Administrator.
SkillSoft
- To access SkillSoft: Log on to your campus portal (https://my.cu.edu) and select the CU Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus tile
- Click the Skillsoft tile
- Click on the CU Denver/Anschutz button
- Find the appropriate course
- For EHS Trainings: Open the Environmental Heath and Safety folder from the menu on the left of the screen. Make sure you are on the “Custom” tab (top, middle of screen) and you will see the EHS courses you need to take which are listed below.
- For OLAR Trainings: Select OLAR from the list of the departments on the left side of the screen.
- Select a course and click LAUNCH.

Office of Laboratory Animal Research (OLAR) Trainings

After you have completed the trainings, please send the certificates of completion for CU: Animal Program Orientation, CU: Disease Prevention and Control in the Animal Housing Facilities, and CU: Standard Operating Procedures in the Animal Housing Facilities as well as the completed attached Personnel Qualification Form to IACUC@cuanschtz.edu.
Occupational Health Clearance:
- In the PI/Supervisor Field, list Angie Ribera
- When asked to indicate materials you are working with*:
- Select “yes” for working with Human Cells/Tissue/Blood
- Select “yes” for the question, “Do you work with live animals?”
- Select “yes” for the question, “I perform animal handling or procedures in my new position” and check the box for Rodents
- *While you may not work with one of the above materials, you will still be screened for the appropriate vaccination and health history for these exposures as a precautionary measure.
- Fill out the rest of the form to the best of your ability.
- You may be contacted by Occupational Health for questions or to be seen for an appointment if additional vaccinations or medical counseling are needed before you start your lab work.
