The Neuromuscular Pathology Lab has important updated information!!!
Please notify the Neuromuscular Pathology Office ON THE DAY you plan to send a biopsy, Jacob Bockhorst, 303-724-2188. We are available to receive specimens between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. After hours specimen can be delivered to Gross Room drop off.
Providers have a couple of options for sending biopsy. For the best result, we prefer same day delivery. If this is not possible, please keep biopsy in the refrigerator overnight & courier to use the next morning. Another option is to send the biopsy via FedEx overnight to be arrive the following morning.

The Neuromuscular Pathology Lab offers providers and their patients throughout the Rocky Mountain Region with a unique resource for diagnosing muscle and nerve diseases. Our team of experts hold a reputation of excellence within the fields of neuromuscular pathology, research, and clinical care. The fully accredited Neuromuscular Pathology Lab and Neuromuscular Division bring together state-of-the-art technologies and highly trained personnel, including nationally and internally recognized faculty, to provide the best care to our patients.
The Neuromuscular Pathology Lab offers tissue preparation and pathological interpretation of muscle and nerve biopsies. Outside muscle and nerve biopsies may be sent to the Neuromuscular Pathology Lab for staining and interpretation. Specimens that have already been obtained and stained elsewhere may be referred for a second neuropathological consultation.

Here at the University of Colorado Neuromuscular Division, muscle and nerve biopsies are performed by specially trained providers, usually as an outpatient procedure. If you are interested in referring your patient to be evaluated for a muscle, nerve, or skin biopsy, please send a referral to the University of Colorado Hospital Department of Neurology, attention: Neuromuscular, at FAX number 720-848-2106. Patients should contact the Department of Neurology directly at 720-848-2080 to schedule a neuromuscular consultation.
