F. Amos Bailey, MD, professor of medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine, received the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Graduate School Dean’s Masters Mentoring Award. This award recognizes faculty who demonstrate a commitment to providing students with a one-on-one, high-quality training experience; maintain high standards of scholarship; and possess personal attributes that make the faculty member an effective role model for other mentors. Faculty are nominated by the master's students whom they mentored for at least one semester and with a significant amount of one-on-one interaction.
Jane E.B. Reusch, MD, professor of medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes, received the Endocrine Society Laureate Award for Mentoring. This is the second national mentoring award bestowed to Dr. Reusch, highlighting her contributions as a research and career mentor for many scientists, and her national efforts on behalf of physician scientists, women in medicine in science, and the translational research workforce.
Anip Bansal, MD, assistant professor of medicine, Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension, received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Department of Anesthesiology and Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis recently signed HB22-1289 “Cover All Coloradans”, which provides Medicaid for children and pregnant/postpartum people regardless of immigration status. The bill’s passage was made possible by a steering committee composed of community partners and Latinx individuals with lived/shared experience throughout the state and community partners, including Lilia Cervantes, MD, associate professor of medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine.

Glenn Frommer is in the middle of his cross-country bike ride to raise money and awareness for polycystic kidney disease (PKD). He stopped at CU Anschutz, a leader in PKD research and clinical trials, along his route to advocate for clinical trial participation.
"The persistence of high numbers of virus-specific T cells in individuals with Long COVID suggests that there may be hidden viral reservoirs that are maintaining and leading to long-term symptoms," said senior author Brent Palmer, PhD, associate professor of allergy and clinical immunology in the University of Colorado School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
